Pruning

As Alex Shigo says “Pruning is one of the best things an arborist can do for a tree but one of the worst things we can do to a tree.” Pruning is a double edged sword, either helping or hurting, depending on where, when, how and why it was done. As arborists we understand the biology of trees and how trees respond to pruning in order to optimize their health and structure.

Plant Health Care

PHC is a comprehensive program to manage the appearance, structure, and vitality of ornamentals landscapes, within your expectations. While good arboricultural practices such as pruning, cabling and nutrient management are important components of PHC, trees and other woody plants are generally part of a greater landscape system, and cannot be viewed in isolation.

Cabling

Trees have an incredible ability to withstand many forces. Unfortunately, lack of pruning and improper growth structure will increase their chance of failure. Dynamic cabling systems are what we employ. These nonrigid or rope-type cabling systems are non-invasive and will allow continued growth of the tree, while offering supplemental support when required, allowing trees to flex and support themselves in a natural way. They are self-adjusting systems that will not girdle your tree or create a pathway for pathogens and can be used for trees of all ages and shapes. Cabling will make your trees safer and increase their longevity.

Emergency Work

Unfortunately, trees can break and fail causing considerable damage to home and property. During storms, heavy loads are applied to trees which can cause failure at weak unions and areas of decay. Even a healthy tree can succumb to storm damage. We are on call for tree emergencies with fast response time and efficient service. We can work with your home insurance company and provide reports when required.

Removals

As arborists we are committed to the longevity and preservation of urban trees. However, situations arise when a tree must be removed. A tree may die, become hazardous or have grown in a poor location. A consultation with one of our arborists will help you determine the best course of action.

Stump Removal

“Stump removal” is the process of using specialized equipment to grind the stump below ground level. A stump left behind in the landscape after a tree has been removed can be an eye-sore and often troublesome. Sprouting shoots may continue to emerge each spring. The remaining wood can become a sanctuary for pests, disease and decay that has the potential to harm other plant life found within your landscape. Stump grinding is a great solution to appease these problems.

Estates & Wood Lot Management

You may have trees that need to come down to make room for a new building or development. We can help you choose the right trees to remove and save the others. We are experienced in safely falling very large trees and proficiently clearing large areas, while recycling all bi-products. Call us at your design stage and we can advise how to preserve trees during the construction process.

Planting

Our team can pick up and install trees & shrubs for your residential or commercial property. We encourage our customers to pick out their plants at the nursery and have them tagged so they get exactly what they like. We can help you with selection and proper planting as all too often newly planted trees are doomed from the start due to misinformation and inadequate planting techniques. Also talk to us about proper mulching for your plants.
